This week, our Erasmus+ GenNZ Summer School participants in Slovenia were inspired by a special session on apitourism led by Tanja Arih Korošec. Tanja brought incredible energy and a wealth of experience from the world of beekeeping and sustainable apitourism.Tanja is well-known across Europe as a leader in apitourism and apitherapy, with years of hands-on work connecting beekeeping, local tourism, and education. She works closely with the Slovenian Beekeeping Academy, coordinates international working groups at Apimondia, and was recently appointed as the head of the commission for apitherapeutic tourism at the International Federation of Apitherapy (IFA).

In this week’s session, Tanja explained that apitourism includes many activities, not just beehive visits. These activities can include wellness experiences with bee products, hands-on workshops, guided apiary tours, and overnight stays in api-chambers. She provided practical advice and examples on how to create new, sustainable types of experiences for visitors.
